Cytotechnologist

Location: Palo Alto, California | Work Location: On-site | Contract Type: Full-Time | Job Category: Allied Health | Salary Range: $60.00 – $70.00/hr

This role involves conducting microscopic evaluations of cellular specimens from various body systems. The professional identifies and distinguishes between normal, abnormal, and malignant cells, using expertise to detect changes that may indicate conditions like cancer, infection, or inflammation. Clear and accurate reports are generated for each evaluation, and assistance is provided to physicians during fine needle aspiration procedures. Specimen preparation for microscopic analysis is also part of the responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Assisting radiologists and other physicians with fine needle aspiration procedures.
Following health and safety policies and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
Reviewing and preparing daily case reports using laboratory information systems.
Preparing and staining specimens for microscopic evaluation.
Participating in ongoing professional development and education.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Proficiency in using and maintaining medical equipment.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Ability to adapt to new procedures, prioritize tasks, and follow detailed instructions.
Knowledge of infection control, laboratory techniques, and regulatory requirements.

Certifications:

CYT certification and ASCP certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Must have Rapid-on site FNA experience to qualify
