Clinical Laboratory Scientist Generalist – Nights

Location: Lake Forest, California   |   Work Location: On-site   |   Contract Type: Full-Time   |   Job Category: Allied Health   |   Salary Range: $55 – $60/hr + $4 shift differential

Work as a CLS to perform assay calibration, quality control, patient testing, and release results through the LIS system.

Shift: 7:30pm – 3:30am Tuesday to Saturday

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure the completion of testing across all shifts while maintaining analytical performance standards.
  • Monitor and review quality control logs to confirm test accuracy.
  • Implement remedial actions when necessary to maintain laboratory performance standards.
  • Provide technical training and orientation to both licensed and unlicensed staff.
  • Confirm abnormal results and communicate with healthcare providers regarding unusual findings.
  • Maintain and update technical procedure manuals as needed.
  • Collaborate with vendors to integrate new analyzers and methodologies.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies.
  • Supervise lab assistants and technicians, providing guidance and support.
  • Conduct and document proficiency testing.
  • Ensure calibration and proper functioning of all laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain organized and accessible records and specimen storage.
  • Meet target deadlines for task completion.
  • Provide backup support for technical and clerical roles as needed.
  • Report issues to laboratory management.
  • Engage in continuous professional development.
  • Seek mentorship and coaching when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Attention to detail and precision in task execution.
  • Competency in laboratory procedures and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and laboratory information systems (LIS).
  • Minimum of one year of laboratory experience in the relevant field.

 

Education and Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
  • Certification or licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent, as required by state regulations
