Clinical Laboratory Scientist III

Performs all the duties of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist I and II. As delegated by the Director, sign out test reports without further review, or submit for Director review. Function as an expert technical resource for CLS team members. Perform and analyze data from the most complex assays and provide training and advice to technicians and other CLSs. Interact regularly with clinical services to ensure open communication. Provide leadership to team; organize daily work of others to ensure turnaround times are met and lab operates efficiently. Act as mentor to developing technologists. Lead special projects and validations. May represent Laboratory on external committees. Act as designee in the absence of Supervisor.

• Perform all duties of CLS I and II.
• Review technical work of others.
• Perform final review of testing results.

May independently and without further review, sign out complex and varied reports to physicians and electronic medical record.
Monitor trends in test result quality. Investigate shifts, report findings to the Supervisor, and perform or oversee corrective action if assigned.
Oversee and review completion of equipment maintenance, instrument calibration, quality control and documentation. Perform advanced troubleshooting when needed and review corrective action/troubleshooting reports.
Define and lead or participate in projects required for the laboratory. Includes software and technology updates, new assay validations, process improvements.
