Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Molecular) Franklin, TN

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) plays a key role in performing diagnostic tests, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This professional works in collaboration with the Laboratory Director, Technical Supervisor, and other team members to uphold safety standards and contribute to a high-quality laboratory environment, supporting both clinical and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Skills & Expertise:

  • Familiarity with CLIA-regulated laboratory settings and laboratory information systems (LIS/LIMS).
  • Proficiency in molecular instrumentation, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in assay validation and quality assurance.
  • Competence in process improvement and project management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform clinical testing and ensure the accuracy of laboratory assays.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to ensure smooth daily operations, including instrument maintenance and quality control.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, working on projects to enhance laboratory processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP, FDA).
  • Assist in audit preparation and proficiency testing to maintain laboratory accreditation.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, procedures, and documentation.
  • Support quality management programs, ensuring that the laboratory meets key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality and safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years of hands-on experience in a clinical lab setting.
  • Preferred: Graduate degree in Laboratory Medicine or Molecular Biology.
  • ASCP certification or equivalent; eligibility for TN state licensure is a plus.
