CLS Connect is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Supervisor / Manager for a growing high-complexity clinical laboratory on Long Island, NY. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys managing laboratory operations while remaining technically involved at the bench. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in immunoassay/ELISA testing, assay validation, laboratory compliance, staff leadership, and regulatory inspections.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee day-to-day clinical laboratory operations, including testing, quality control, specimen workflow, documentation, and result reporting. Manage, train, mentor, and evaluate laboratory personnel. Remain hands-on at the bench and assist with patient testing and laboratory workflow as needed. Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, New York State/NYSDOH, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Serve as a key laboratory representative during regulatory inspections and third-party audits. Manage corrective actions and maintain inspection readiness. Oversee quality control, proficiency testing, competency assessments, and laboratory documentation. Participate in and oversee assay and method validations. Troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, assays, workflows, and technical issues. Utilize laboratory information systems (LIS/LIMS) to support laboratory operations and reporting. Identify opportunities to improve laboratory quality, efficiency, turnaround times, and workflow. Monitor laboratory performance and operational metrics. Support reagent, supply, and equipment management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline. Current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or other qualification meeting applicable New York State supervisory requirements. Minimum 5 years of hands-on clinical laboratory experience, including leadership, lead technologist, or supervisory experience. Strong experience working in a CLIA-regulated clinical laboratory. Knowledge of New York State/NYSDOH and CAP laboratory requirements. Hands-on immunoassay and/or ELISA experience. Assay or method validation experience. Experience managing and developing laboratory personnel. Experience supporting or leading regulatory inspections and third-party audits. Working knowledge of LIS/LIMS or other laboratory information systems. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a high-complexity laboratory operating under NYSDOH/CLEP oversight. Experience leading CAP, CLIA, and/or NYSDOH inspections. Experience in an FDA-regulated or IVD/diagnostics environment. Knowledge of ISO 13485 quality systems. Experience with assay development in addition to validation. ASCP or other applicable professional certification.
