Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Technician

We are seeking (10) Clinical Laboratory Technician or Technologist to carry out various laboratory procedures essential for processing biological samples for next-generation sequencing (NGS). Your work will include tasks such as sample accessioning, extraction, library preparation, sequencing, and quality control, all performed under the guidance of laboratory leadership. Collaboration within the clinical team is key to ensuring efficient and high-quality results for our clients and patients.

Preferred: Next-Gen Sequencing and Manual Hybrid Capture experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and advanced diagnostic testing on patient samples for clinical and research collaborations.
  • Assist with daily operations, including data entry, sample receipt, reagent preparation, and laboratory maintenance.
  • Identify and address issues that may impact test performance, escalating concerns as necessary.
  • Support research initiatives through participation in partnership and validation studies.
  • Contribute to laboratory upkeep, including inventory management and standard operating procedure (SOP) development.
  • Follow established assay protocols and demonstrate initiative in planning and executing tasks for timely report delivery.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Maintain documentation in line with Good Laboratory Practices and quality standards.
  • Support quality control and assurance processes.
  • Complete training and stay current with competencies for all relevant assays.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow SOPs for equipment operation and maintenance and report any equipment issues affecting turnaround time or safety.
  • Assist with instrument calibration and maintenance, ensuring adherence to quality control policies.

Team Collaboration:

  • Foster positive working relationships within the team and across departments.
  • Uphold regulatory, quality, and scientific standards to ensure sample integrity.
  • Serve as a role model for safety practices and laboratory culture.
  • Consistently apply good laboratory practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree (Technician) or Bachelor’s degree (Technologist) in relevant scientific fields from an accredited institution. International degrees require a credentials evaluation.
  • Certification: Current certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is preferred.
    • Technician Level: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
    • Technologist Level: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
  • Knowledge: Understanding of DNA biology and molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, DNA extraction, library preparation).
  • Skills: Familiarity with common laboratory instruments, such as thermocyclers and plate readers.
  • Experience: Prior experience with human biological materials and operating in a BSL-2 environment is required.
