We are seeking an experienced Manager to lead Testing Laboratory Operations for a high-volume blood and donor-testing laboratory. This hands-on leadership role combines technical oversight, quality management, and team development across three core functions: infectious disease testing, product quality control (QC), and operational support. The Manager will supervise laboratory supervisors and licensed staff, own SOPs/validation/training, and ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance.
Oversee day-to-day operations across infectious disease testing, product QC, and operations support.
Manage, mentor and evaluate supervisors and laboratory staff; plan staffing and schedules to meet turnaround-time and service expectations.
Serve as a technical resource and perform complex manual and automated testing when required.
Maintain and oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, QC programs, documentation, and supply/inventory management.
Develop, write, and revise SOPs, validation plans, and training materials; assess staff competency at hiring and annually.
Monitor testing performance, prepare technical reports, and recommend process improvements to ensure quality and efficiency.
Manage external testing obligations where applicable — ensure contract commitments, TAT, inventory and customer communications are met.
Participate in departmental budgeting, capital equipment recommendations, and payroll approvals for direct reports.
Ensure strict privacy/confidentiality of patient/donor information and compliance with relevant federal/state regulations and accreditation standards.
Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, life sciences, or related field.
Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license required upon hire.
5–7 years of relevant experience in a clinical laboratory or blood center.
1–2 years prior supervisory/managerial experience.
Working knowledge of immunohematology, chemistry, virology and blood banking principles.
Familiarity with federal/state regulations, AABB (or equivalent) standards, and cGMP practices.
Strong analytical, leadership, and team-building skills; ability to develop and implement process improvements.
Experience analyzing performance data and drawing operational conclusions.
Prior budget development/expense management responsibility.
Experience managing external testing contracts or client-facing testing services.
Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) — required upon hire.
